Tomcat is the servlet container that is used in the official Reference Implementation for the Java Servlet and JavaServer Pages technologies. The Java Servlet and JavaServer Pages specifications are developed by Sun under the Java Community Process.

JOnAS works with Tomcat v4.1.x. In this tutorial, we will use Tomcat v4.1.24 as our servlet container.

Download the latest combined JOnAS and Tomcat binary distribution from ObjectWeb Consortium site and uncompress it.

Windows platforms users can execute the self-extracting .exe file or use a utility such as WinZip to extract the files from the .tgz archive.
